Earth Day Activities
On April 22, 2020, Earth Day is celebrated. We celebrate Earth Day to remind ourselves that this planet is the only place we have to live; it provides us with everything we need to live. This day there are different activities where we promise to take care of our planet.
Its origin dates back to the year 1970, where the first protests in the United States against air pollution arose due to the gas emitted by the extensive use of cars and the inefficient and irresponsible operation of industries. That first protest brought together more than 20 million people.
In 1972 the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, also known as the Stockholm Summit, laid the groundwork for global awareness of the interdependent relationship between humans, other living things, and our planet.
By the time of the 90s, about 140 countries joined the celebration and commitment to the environment, becoming a global celebration.
This year will mark the 50th anniversary of that first protest where more than 20 million people gathered in the United States for the celebration of Earth Day.
At the Hayes summit called The Millennium Summit, a record of 184 countries began global pollution talks. Reaching this effort to hundreds of millions of people, on Earth Day 2000, it cemented global conversations by harnessing the power of the Internet to organize activists around the world.
This year there will be no congregations of billions of people in the squares or in public places to celebrate Planet Earth Day. This does not mean that we cannot do something to celebrate it. 3WG Education carried out the following activities so that you can celebrate and enjoy this important day with your family. These activities are appropriate for all ages, so we hope you enjoy it.
